Harihara with Avatars

This Harihara has the Avatars on it. That has not been seen by Imtiyaz before

it is from Nasik

Ayappa is son of Mohini and Siva

te Harnihara was created by Brahman to end sectarean conflict of Vishnu and Siva sects

worshipped by both Vishnu and Siva community

15th century in fact and nicely worshipped piece

Ayyappan = sabari sabarimala

Tamil form is Aiyannar protects villagers by riding around then became horse

this is rare, once in a lifetime piece

it is a masterpiece

Imtiyaz says that looking at it, the figure on the bottom left of the prabhavali is Kalki  you can see his sword

and he feels that the one second from left on top, with the well-defined eyes, is Narasimha

on the right, thrid up from bottom or second down from top is boar, Varaha, and below that is the tortoise

can compare to Sridhar’s site where he shows two similar pieces, but without the Avatars
