LL050 Bala Krishna 6 x 3.5 x 2.5. Extraordinary form of a heavy Balakrishna, one leg raised and resting on a lotus pod. Rich patinated bronze standing on a tall base. Some wear to the face from ritual worship. Other unusual details. Very rich casting. South India. it is actually 13th century. Price is $800.  But Imtiyaz says that is worse nothing less than $3,000 to $5,000

the hair on back has a shirachakra which is a chola style

and the top circular band is also a chola style

 

Imtiyaz says it is one of the best pieces of a dancing Krishna that he has ever seen

this is second Bala Krishna from Lozowick personal collection  (other one is Ganga Jamuna)

this is a late Chola piece

navanitanrtta  is name for this style of Krishna dancing with the butter ball and standing on left foot, and lifting the right foot  which is resting on a lotus bud
