Lord Khandoba is an incarnation of Lord Shiva who killed the demon brothers, Mani and Malla, and freed the Earth from their atrocities. In his post in the Hindu Pantheon, Khandoba is a classic warrior. In this icon which is in the position of frontal view, the back parts of the horse are not present. It is a small sized vigraha depicting the power and steadfastness of Khandoba.

Imtiyaz says that he has never seen this before, where only the front part of the horse is there.   Have to ask again for age and the place is of course southern Maharashtra or northern Karnataka for Khandoba
