much more than Vishnu’s wife
combination of Vishnu and Siva more of a Shaivite then Vaishnavite piece
one of best Mahalaxmi he has seen in his life

this is from Mysore, Karntaka   Imtiyaz calls this a masterpiece

this is Ganga Jamuna    the statue is copper and the lion is brass

but it was made for Kohlapur which is on border of Maharashtra and Karnataka   made for a royal family

this is 16th century

For those of you wondering as to how Mahalakshmi is associated with Linga (Siva’s form), here is a paragraph from Prof S K Ramachandra Rao’s Pratima Kosha Volume 5 page 65.

” Mahalakshmi is to be regarded NOT as the consort of Vishnu, but as the primordial energy manifesting herself as Maha-Saraswati, Maha-Lakshmi and Maha-Kali, from whom the three Gods Brahma, Vishnu and Rudra (Siva) took shape to create, protect and dissolve the universe”.  [ from Bronzes of India]
