Vedanta Desika, Vaishnava Saint. This piece was cleaned at some recent point. There is a repair on the neck, possibly a casting flaw or damage which was repaired. The base has a soft angled triangle of inlaid brass. The green substance on the piece is from worship with water.
Vedanta Desika was a philosopher and poet writing in several Indian languages. He was recognized as a Vaishnava Guru in the traditional lineage that began with Sri Ramanuja. He lived over 750 years ago and is still recognized and revered by many Hindu devotees of Lord Vishnu.
